In the travel industry, content management systems (CMS) are becoming an important part of the drive for lower distribution costs and higher online sales. CMS range from toolkits to create and administer websites to much more comprehensive solutions that integrate content databases with brochure design systems and publish text and images via print and online.
In my personal experience, CMS means different things to the solution providers and their customers. There are many CMS providers who fall into one or more categories.
There are pre-built and customisable website toolkits that avoid the need to build a site from scratch, delivering websites quickly and at relatively low cost.
